At 120′ x 80′ (36.6m x 24m) the Scrapyard was a very complicated build. This would be the set for the final scenes of the movie called the “Post Carrier Collapse”. It had to be built in such a way that it looked very much like a disaster yet would be safe for the stunts team and the shooting crew at all times.
Using shipping containers to build up the layers of the set, it was augmented with Foam of many types, including Stunt mats, painted and destressed to look like metal structure, concrete and the carrier surface (which we took liberal artistic liberty with). Layer upon layer, container upon container, then set dressing to fill areas just to add clutter. This is that build and the outcome.
